YMCA

YMCA is the largest provider of not-for-profit child care services in Canada. The child care program, which is designed nationally, helps the child build confidence and develop essential school readiness skills. The programs are staffed by licensed professionals.

Lack of affordable access to childcare is a limiting factor for most at-risk women. A 2018 Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives study identified childcare deserts throughout Canada. Saskatoon and Brampton ranked #1 and #2.

YMCA Brampton: In 2019, GROW contributed funding to enable the Brampton YMCA to retrofit a previously unused space and open a new permanent facility for 15 toddlers. (Ontario)

YMCA Saskatoon: The YMCA of Saskatoon operates four child development centres providing services to 305 families. GROW’s 2019 contribution was used to support the creation of a literacy and science learning area in each of the four childcare centres. (Saskatchewan)
